There’s a few hours left before 2016 clicks in, and if you’re brave enough, here’s one last leadership challenge for 2015. It’s hard to say how long it will take, an hour, a day, all 110 days and 11 hours that remain of 2015 .. but it will be worth it.

Here’s the challenge – take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself honestly – "how did I lead in 2015?"

Research has shown that self-reflection is possibly a manager’s least favourite activity yet the numbers also say that truly great leaders and high performers have high EQ, of which self awareness is a foundation.

Are you up for it? Here’s some questions to get you thinking …

  • How aligned was your year with your intentions back in January? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
  • What are you proud of?
  • Who do you need to thank? (do this now!)
  • What worked really well?
  • What surprised you?
  • What will you do more of?
  • What did you avoid? Why?
  • What will you do less of?
  • What are you ignoring?
  • Who do you need to spend more time with?
  • What do you need to do more of, to make sure you lead at your best?
  • What do you need to do less of?
  • What’s been the absolute highlight of 2015 professionally speaking?

Congratulations -  you’re now better armed for shaping 2016, but you’re not done yet. Now, the best bit, play the highlight reel from your whole life in 2015, outside of the professional arena, as that’s what it's really all about isn’t it?
